Je-chun Park

Je-chun Park nació en 1945 y se graduó de la Universidad de Dongguk, en Seúl. Debutó como poeta en la revista literaria Modern Literature y hoy en día goza de gran renombre en Corea. Sus obras se destacan por la imaginación y la sensibilidad poéticas procedentes de las tradiciones budista y taoísta, como así también de los clásicos de la literatura coreana. Aunque sus obras son leídas en el mundo oriental y occidental, las emociones, imágenes y metáforas de su obra parecen ser puramente coreanas. Park ha publicado varios volúmenes de poesía y ha sido galardonado con varias distinciones literarias. Sending the Ship Out to the Stars , una selección de sus poemas, traducidos al inglés por Chang Soo Ko, ha sido editada recientemente por la Cornell University Press. Su poesía se publica por primera vez en castellano en este número de Sirena.

 

Je-chun Park, born in Korea in 1945, graduated from Dongguk University in Seoul , and made his debut as a poet in Modern Literature . He is a major poet in Korea today. His works are marked by poetic imagination and sensibility, which draw largely on Korean Buddhist and Taoist traditions as well as Korean classical literature. Though he is widely read in the East and in the West, the emotions, imagery, and metaphors of his work seem uniquely Korean. Park has published several books of poems and has won many prestigious literary distinctions. Sending the ship Out to the Stars , a selection of his poems, translated by Chang Soo Ko, has been published recently by the Cornell University Press. His poetry is published for the first time in Spanish here in Sirena.
