Chang Soo Ko

Chang Soo Ko nació en Corea en 1934 y se graduó de la Universidad de Sunggyunkwand en Seúl. En 1966 debutó como poeta en la revista Poetry Mothly . Fue diplomático de carrera y sirvió a su país como cónsul general en Seattle, Washington, en los EEUU y como embajador en Etiopía y en Pakistán. Sus poemas, en coreano y en traducción al inglés, han sido editados en varias revistas literarias coreanas y estadounidenses tales como World Poetry (W.W. Norton), ViewPoint 11 (Pearson Education Canada), y Curious Cats (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, en Nueva York). Ko ha sido galardonado con numerosos premios literarios y con el Premio a la Traducción de la Literatura Moderna Coreana, en Corea. También ha recibido el Gran Premio Lucian Blaga, ofrecido por el Festival Internacional de Poesía de Rumania. Recientemente ha publicado un volumen de poesía con la editorial Homa & Sekey Books. Chang Soo Ko , born in Korea in 1934, graduated from Sunggyunkwand University in Seoul , and became a poet in 1966 through the Poetry Monthly . As a career diplomat, he has served his country as consul general in Seattle , Washington , in the US and as ambassador in Ethiopia and Pakistan . His poems, in Korean and in English translation, have appeared in a number of Korean and American literary journals, including World Poetry (W.W. Norton), ViewPoint 11 (Pearson Education Canada), and Curious Cats (The metropolitan Museum of Art, New York). Ko has won poetry prizes and the Modern Korean Literature Translation Award, in Korea . He has also received the Lucian Blaga International Poetry Festival Grand Prize in Romania . Recently he published a book of his poems with Homa & Sekey Books. A selection of his poems, for the first time ever, is published in Spanish here in Sirena .
