Sujata Bhatt

Sujata Bhatt, poetisa y traductora, nació en la India y creció en su tierra natal y en los Estados Unidos. Recibió su licenciatura en Bellas Artes del Taller de Escritores de la Universidad de Iowa, y en el presente reside en Alemania con su esposo, Michael Augustin, y su hija Jenny Mira. Indian born poet and translator Sujata Bhatt grew up in her native country and in the USA. She received her MFA from the Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa, and now lives in Germany with her husband, Michael Augustin, and their daughter, Jenny Mira. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Commonwealth Poetry Prize and the Cholmondeley Award. Sujata Bhatt has published six collections of poetry, as well as a substantial selected poems, with Carcanet Press, UK. Her work has been widely anthologized, translated into more than a dozen languages, and is regularly broadcast on BBC radio and television. She is a frequent guest at literary festivals throughout the world. In February 2004, UNESCO published her poem “Search for My Tongue”, as a part of their celebration of “International Mother Language Day”. Currently, Sujata Bhatt, a Visiting Fellow in the Department of English at Dickinson College, is working on her new manuscript, Ozone Sunflowers.
